​​Guest Speaker - Jim Wunderman, Bay Area Council

Jim is President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. The Bay Area Council is a CEO led public policy and advocacy organization begun in 1945. It’s goal is to keep the Bay Area the most innovative, globally competitive and sustainable region in the world.

The Council has 325 member companies across a wide range of industries. Jim regularly appears on the list of California’s Top 100 movers and shakers.

Prior to Jim’s work at the Council, Jim worked in both the private and public sector. He was the Chief of Staff to both Mayors Diane Feinstein and Frank Jordan. In the private sector he was SVP of Providian Financial for external affairs as well as VP and General Manager of Recology’s two major subsidiaries.

Jim launched a bold initiative in China that has grown to four Bay Area Council offices, in turn leading to public private partnerships with California to reopen its trade and investment office in China. Jim is a graduate of San Francisco State majoring in Political Science. He has an associate’s degree from Kingsborough College which is a part of the City University of NY. He is married with 4 children.
